Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins (Review)

Rebel BelleCover:  Do not judge this book by its cover. It is not girly by any means. The cover is beautiful and I love it. However, it is so different from the book, but at the same time it describes it perfectly.

My Rating: 5 out of 5  (on good reads)

Synopsis: Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper’s destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts.

Just when life can’t get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she’s charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper’s least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him—and discovers that David’s own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.

With snappy banter, cotillion dresses, non-stop action and a touch of magic, this new young adult series from bestseller Rachel Hawkins is going to make y’all beg for more.

My Thoughts: What?!? This book is insanely good. It is action packed from the beginning of the book until the very end. Harper Price is your token golden girl. She is the president of every club, straight A student, homecoming queen and is dating the hottest guy in school. The book begins with Harper and her friends at homecoming and low and behold Harper has forgotten to put on lip-gloss. It must be the end of the world…well it might just be. Harper rushes off to the bathroom and while she is in there, the school’s janitor bursts in and locks the door. Shocked, Harper realizes that the janitor is bleeding from a sword wound on his stomach (what?) The janitor kisses Harper and passes on his magical powers. Then all of a sudden her History teacher bursts through the door and tries to kill her. However, Harper now has these new bad-ass abilities and is able to use her ninja moves to defeat the history teacher. This is such a Kick Ass book. I think that everyone should read this  book. There are not too many books that make me laugh out loud, but this one did! The dialogue between characters and even her dialogue within herself is so funny. It is so snarky and witty. I absolutely adore this book. Please if you get a chance pick up a copy of this book and read it!
