Fairy Tale Survey

The other day I was on here and I came across a post from Alice in Readerland and it was a Fairy Tale book survey and I thought it would be fun to do.

Let’s get started:

Pinocchio – The boy whose nose grows when he lies.
Is there are book you lie about, because you feel ashamed for liking it?
Nope! I am never ashamed about what I am reading.

Beauty and the beast – The girl who fell in love with personality.
Which book do you love that has a hideous cover?
I would have to say The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. This series is one that I like but do not love, but I could do without the girl on the covers. I think that the covers of this series are too simple and boring.

Snow white – Hunted down for her beauty.
Do you ever buy a book based on the cover alone and if so, what is the last one?
I actually have a bad habit of doing this; however, I have tried to stop doing this as of late. It has been a while since I have done a cover buy, so I think that the last one that I did was Unearthly by Cynthia Hand. I bought that one a few years ago and I do not regret it. I ended up reading the trilogy and loving it.

Sleeping beauty – Cursed to sleep, awakened by true loves kiss.
What is your favorite book couple?
Rachel/Kisten from Kim Harrison’s The Hallows series are by far my favorite literary couple. Though their romance is short lived for a 13 book series you cannot deny their love and passion for each other.

Little Mermaid – Gave up on her old life for love.
Do you ever branch out to new genres or do you like to stick with the ones you know and love? If you try new things out, what is the latest book?
I guess you can say I am an eclectic when it comes to book genres I love to read YA however; I love to delve into Science Fiction, Horror, Dark Urban Fantasy, Fiction, and some Contemporary. The last two books I have read are from the dark urban fantasy genre (Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs and The Undead Pool by Kim Harrison). The book before those two was YA and it was Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter.

Cinderella – Who lost her shoe after midnight?
What is the last book that made you stay up all night?
If I could stay up all night it would be any book by Kim Harrison.

Rapunzel – locked up in a tower.
What is the worst books you’ve read last month?
I cannot say that any of the books I read last month were bad. However, I will say that the worst book I have ever read was Thirst by Christopher Pike. I absolutely think that it is a horrible book. I see it in the stores and I want to take it off the shelves and throw it away. It was such a waste of my time reading that book.

Aladdin – The poor boy who found a genie.
What is the latest book treasure/gem you found?

I guess the latest Book that I read that I really enjoyed was Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter.

Alice in Wonderland – The girl who fell through a rabbit’s hole.
Which book made you really feel like you landed in another world?

That would have to be any book from the Harry Potter series.

East of the sun and west of the moon – where a girl embarks on a journey to save her love.
Who is one of your favorite kick-ass heroines?
Rachel Morgan! I love her. Though she spends a lot of time causing more trouble, she always means well. When put to the test she will kick some serious ass though.

The Frog Prince – where an enchanted prince becomes human again.
What is a book you thought you would hate, but end up loving?
I know my answer for this question will be a bit shocking, but it was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The first time I ever heard about these books was about the time when the first movie came out and at the time I was very into going to church (I don’t go as much now, but I still believe and love God) and I was told these books were evil and so were the movies. However, a few years later my boyfriend (who is now my husband) talked me into watching the movie, and then I HAD to read the books. So, I devoured these books. They were one of the best books that I had read in a long time.

Hansel and Gretel – left alone in the woods and captured by a witch.
Which duo (sister/sister, brother/sister) is your favorite and why?
Sadly, I do not own too many books that have a lot of siblings. So I guess I will have to say Sabina Kane and her sister Maisie. I really like their dynamics when they are together.

Little Red Riding Hood – almost eaten by a wolf dressed as her grandmother.
What book disappointed you after falling in love with the cover and blurb?
This would have to be Sunshine by Robin McKinley, while the cover was dark and alluring, the story was only sub-par. Initially I had read the synopsis of the book and was so intrigued that I bought it on the spot without doing any research. I was so excited to read it, but I only go half way through it and stopped. Sadly, I found it boring! I may try to give it another shot though I probably will not.

Rumpelstilskin – nobody knows his name.
Which book do you love that doesn’t get enough attention?
This would have to be the Hallows series by Kim Harrison. Though I will admit over the last few years I have noticed a lot more hype about her books.
